Leader Dogs

In 1939 (3) Lions established Leader Dogs for the Blind to train guide dogs to empower people who are blind, visually impaired or Deaf-Blind. Lions have acted as the backbone of Leader Dog since its inception. Lions Clubs throughout the world support Leader Dog for the blind in many capacities:

  • Lions have supported Leader Dog from the beginning raising $2,434,496 for the Campaign for the Canine Development Center
  • Identified people in their community who could benefit from Leader Dog’s services
  • Assisted our clients in filling out applications and spread information about our programs throughout their hometowns and Districts
  • Acted as Leader Dog Chair in their District
  • Becoming a puppy raiser or hosting one of our breeding stock dogs
  • Serving on the Board of Trustees
